The College of Life Sciences' PhD Association (PICLS) has a number of aims but these are likely to be modified over time as circumstances may change.
However, it is thought that facilitating networking between PhD students in different subject areas, from different parts of Europe and beyond, will be a key role of the Association.
It is envisioned that this will be achieved through focussed academic events such as meaningful and functional seminars, and retreats whilst generating an environment where newly established interconnections are reinforced through social events.
In addition, it is thought that the composite of better connections between PhD students, as a result of the above programme, will serve and facilitate a more coherent and consistent interaction with the CLS Postgraduate Programme and allow more effective dialogue with the SRB.
PiCLS and CLSPA will have their annual BBQ on 4th September in the Botanic Garden in Dundee. All PhD students and post docs from the College are welcome.
PiCLS is Organizing its PhD student retreat for the current 1st and 2nd year PhD students in September 2010. This year the retreat will be held in Firbush. Get more information here.
